Asad Fazil MBE

Founder & CEO

Asad started Al-Hurraya in 2014 after completing his BA Honours in Humanistic Counselling at the University of Nottingham. Prior to this, he had struggled with addiction and it was during this time that he discovered there was a lack of culturally relevant support in that area. He subsequently created the first UK Islamic 12 step program for addicts and since then has led the development of culturally relevant support in many areas of community life in Nottingham and the East Midlands.

In 2021 Asad was awarded an MBE in recognition for services work in education change.
